We left lovely Santa Fe in the cool breezy morning around 9AM.
We started on our way to the Painted Desert and the land on the was so barren every once in a while you would see
some brush and small short trees, after a while we started seeing the red rocks and mesas.
One wonders how can anyone survive in this so unwelcoming desert. Endless numbers of trains coming from the West Coast, were crossing with us the country.
We arrived at the Painted Desert around 1.30PM, it was another spectacular place, a gem in this barren land.
It was at least 96F with 20mile an hour winds. We stopped in about 15 or so look out areas to admire
the creation of thousands of years of evolution over this area. I wish it was afternoon as I know the colors would have been even more vivid.
We continued on to the petrified forest, an other part of the desert worth visiting, it has evolved into the most unique and immense petrified forest in the world, as it is so vast.
So as you can see we holding on to our hats as well as each other due to the increasing wind, while holding the camera.
What extraordinary pictures, and your expressions say it all, what an adventure you both are on! The details are great and the stories really bring us along with you, thanks for putting this together! We cannot wait for your visit to the great north of Canada!
ReplyDeleteWe love you both so much, travel safely and get lost!
