June 13.2013 Route 66

The night was quiet, we got up with a dark sky but the little blue showing through gave us hope.

It  turned out to be a glorious day, in the high 80's, we took off to Springfield, Il.  and visited the famous

home built by Frank Lloyd Wright, called the "Dana Thomas house".

A wonder of very well thought out architecture well ahead of it's time, incredible detail in side and out.

We took a tour of the interior, too bad no pictures were allowed . The immense stained glass windows with the distinct style that made F.L.Wright famous were  so impressive  as well well as all the chandeliers and furniture he designed, especially for this house. So glad we were able to visit true piece of art.

We went on to Litchfield were we had lunch at the well known Restaurant "Ariston" located on the legendary
Route 66, it is a landmark since 1924, when a Greek family after they arrived at Ellis island went on to Missouri,
had a great lunch.

Then drove through "Devil's elbow" which describes the curves, in the valleys and hills of Missouri located in the Ozarks, lush green forests surrounded us, a lovely ride.

We passed by the glorious arch in St. Louis,  soaring in the blue sky.

These pictures were taken in Cuba, Missouri while still on Route 66.

We arrived in Lebanon, Mo in time to check in to our circa 1940 legendary Route 66 Motel, missing the on the Muss!!!  But Hey, it had Telephone and was... Refrigirated :)

A great dinner at the Cat Fish BBQ , with plenty of wisdom written on the outside:
