10 July 2013, Seattle to Missoula Montana

10 July, 2013

It is 9.30 we are highway 90, starting our ascent in between the passes of the Snoqualmi mountain range.
The emerald green trees on  one side and the sharp severe grey rocks peaking through the lush vegetation and wild flowers on the right.
After a few turns the clouds started separating and revealed the glorious mountain peaks that still had some snow sparkling under the morning sunlight.

The clouds in some areas looked as if a dry brush with white paint had gone over the crisp blue sky.

A beautifully calm lake appeared ( Masonry Pool Dam) on our right with a small tree filled island and in the back round in the deep from the shadows of the mountain’s crevices some snow appeared.

The traffic had slowed down, as the night before they had done some rock blasting to widen the road, this allowed us to enjoy this beauty that we have only seen in Ansel Adam’s images.
Unbelievable, only in America...will one drive by a motorhome that is carrying their own.. helicopter.  What happened to the simpler things in life?
Actually we have seen so many ways of traversing the country, it is so much fun, take a look.

One more picture that I just love is this couple wearing their " leathers" taking a break at a Rest stop,
from riding their Honda Gold wing motorcycle with trailer.
Which reconfirms to all of that it is absolutely never too late to get on the road any way you wish to
enjoy life and smell the clean air.

We continued to drive through the colorful fields of Spokane and at a Rest stop where
we stopped for lunch, we discovered (in Ritzville) that most of Washington Stat East of Seattle, millions of years ago had Lava flows that covered and destroyed everything in it’s path for miles and miles, over time,  eventually it would grow back only to be recovered with a new flow of Lava.
Some of these layers that have been formed are over 200 feet deep, explaining the
formidable colorations of the rock formations on route.

It took us 1 hour to go through Idaho, the deep blue waters of Coeur d’Alene kept us company for a while reflecting the mountains above.

We entered Montana still on route 90 and it’s absolutely gorgeous mountains
blanketed by the endless evergreens. always passing over rivers which flowed
in and out like  stitched canvas.

We checked in at our hotel in Missoula. As I love Trout, I asked were we could have some fresh caught Trout
and we were given directions to a great seafood and steak restaurant.

We sat by the window, which was to our delight right at the Clark River, what a feast for the eyes,
watched people parasailing right on top of the high hill in front of us (not sure you can see the 2 dots but
I have to try.

We watched people fly fishing while others were going down the river with their paddle board,

Kayaking training with little ones along with dad on the Paddle board,

Even the dog was getting into the fun along with the tubing!

A number of brave ones were jumping from that bridge, thankfully the river was deep and fast!

In case you are wondering how did I find the time to take so many pictures during dinner? The fish was overcooked and had plenty of time to enjoy my wine and watch this theater in front of us!

A beautiful way home, sunset 9.30PM!
