It was 9.45AM on route to Montana. The day was cloudy and 76F, time to capture the beauty of Yellowstone Park After a few miles we entered a vast desolate area that went on for hours.
We were both surprised as we expected trees, mountain ridges as scenic areas.
After the dry hills and lifeless countryside, we got off an exit, there was a convenience store that was practically small supermarket, attached to it a...small casino, everything one needs on route to Yellowstone.
We turned around to get back on 90 when by the entrance of the highway we saw our favorite little stop for a drive through cup of Espresso! Mind you there
was hardly anything else around.
In the early afternoon we found ourselves in the lovely town of Ennis, As if someone prepared the set ready to shoot another cowboy movie.
Lovely and surprisingly a terrific art Gallery.
We drove passing a gorgeous valley carpeted in shades of light green under the darkening sky. The absolutely wonderful cabins would appear every so many miles like little specs and the river beyond was winding back and forth in this spectacular plain.
The huge dark purple and blue mountains beyond looked as if someone placed them there for a dramatic effect, how perfect.
We reached the town of Ennis, an adorable place that one would think it was placed as a prop for another Western movie. That was at the entrance of the town.
We continued on on top of the mountain located in the Gallatin National Forest only to discover an unbelievable site. These mountains are the most rugged in the entire state.
They say that due to a major earthquake during a night the mountain slid into a lake, displacing the water and killing all life around it.
Bellow you will see the lake that was created and the remaining tree stumps
that still are standing in the same water.
The wind was blowing at least 40miles an hour, we went out of the car and hardly were
able to stand in order to take a picture of the valley and river ahead.
The sky had casted a grey shadow around us giving this unforgiving
area a strange mood. Surely if it was a sunny afternoon it would
have been a more inviting place.
