We left Tacoma around 9.30 and were able to reach the Canadian border by 2.00PM.
We were able to avoid the detour we expected crossing over on Route 5, north of Seattle
on the way to Vancouver on the bridge that had fallen into the river, as they had just erected a temporary bridge!
Great news.

Entering the Canadian Border.
The city ofVancouver welcomed us in it's glistening glory, I have never seen so much glass in a city anywhere, all the apartment buildings as well as commercial buildings were encased in glass. Ultramodern
facades and shapes.
The blue sky and glorious mountains that surround most of the city were reflected on them,
Trees, plants and beautiful flowers everywhere, in, over and around all the structures,
We checked into our Hotel by the beautiful Stanley Park and by the Marina, a wonderful sight.

We took a walk to this amazing park the largest in BC. over 1.000 acres . It is
magnificent, it has wonderful rose gardens, the trees are so large and full of beautiful foliage,
the largest rhododendrons, conifers, magnolias and dogwoods I have ever seen.
It has lanes for bikers, rollerblading, separate from walking and jogging.
Beautiful lawns and benches scattered everywhere filled with people enjoying the vistas of the snow capped mountains, trees, the rowers making cuts into the sparkling calm water of the bay.
After sunset around 9.00PM, we ended up just up the street at a small little Italian Bistro "The Nook"
absolutely wonderful, sat at the bar and the very pleasant bartender, was serving wine while also
preparing hors d'oeuvres. What a delight, our dinner was scrumptious.
We missed all the 4th. of July celebrations, no parades or fireworks!
